According to Trinidad and Tobago’s Central Statistical Office (CSO), there were 25,500 unemployed persons seeking jobs in the first quarter of 2023.
But just how many job vacancies there are to balance that figure is much harder to pin down.
The Ministry of Labour recently rolled out a Job Vacancy Survey for Private Sector and State Enterprises across Trinidad and Tobago, the first one to be done since 2012. The final report stands to provide significant insights into the types of vacancies, particularly those that are hard to fill, potential reasons for vacancies, required qualifications, industry, occupation classifications, and projected job vacancies for the country.
The CSO data reveals two things. First, many Trinbagonians are struggling to find the right jobs. Secondly, there are businesses that are struggling to find talent. It's why both parties use recruitment agencies in Trinidad and Tobago to bridge the gap.
There are the obvious ones (*cough* Caribbean Jobs), but there are some recruitment agencies in Trinidad flying under the radar that you can use to hire -or find - your next role.
